Finding Your Way Around Edinburgh Airport

Edinburgh International is Scotland's fastest growing airport having opened in 2001 and now handling over five million passengers serving 56 destinations worldwide. There are more than 30 daily flights to London's five airports, and you can fly to most European cities from Edinburgh Airport on scheduled and charter flights. You can obtain full details on all the airlines and holiday companies operating out of Edinburgh, where they fly to and their contact details.

There are plans to expand Edinburgh Airport by adding a further runway, although this is unlikely to be required within the next 20 years. BAA has recently made provision for an extension to the current runway, which would allow larger aircraft to serve longer haul destinations, and it is predicted that by 2030 Edinburgh Airport will be Scotland's busiest, handling 26 million passengers every year.

If you are planning to hire a car when you arrive at Edinburgh Airport, there are six major car rental companies located in the UK Arrivals Area of the terminal building. There are also rent a car agencies outside the airport perimeter as well as executive, chauffeur and limousine services.

Edinburgh Airport is situated just 12km west of the city centre and easy to reach with a good bus service operating from the airport to the City Centre, Railway Station and other local areas.

You can get to and from Edinburgh Airport by a variety of methods including a Private Transfer when you would be met in the arrivals hall by your own driver who will have a car waiting to take you on to your chosen destination. Or you might prefer to jump into a taxi: there are three taxi ranks located at the Eastern end of the terminal building, the coach park and on the ground floor of the short stay multi storey car park (available for pre-booked taxis only).

The terminal building is relatively small so it is easy to find your way around. It is split into two floors with lift access to the first floor. Check in, UK and International arrivals are all on the ground floor. There is a good range of shops and eating and drinking outlets to choose from both before and after security. You can obtain live flight arrivals and live flight departures information.

If you want to leave you car at the airport, there are several options for parking: pick up, short stay, long stay and valet parking. You can obtain details on the these tariff as well as information on luggage storage facilities at Edinburgh Airport.

Finally our general information details resources for children, disabled facilities, internet access, First Aid centres, pet travel and where you can change your money at Edinburgh Airport as well as full details on the weather at Edinburgh Airport and the surrounding area with a 5 and 10 day forecast.
